Honey Singh and I are not close anymore: Badshah

Singer and rapper behind the hit song's, Saturday Saturday and Proper Patola - Badshah is a unique name in the industry! The man who brings out versatility through his music, talks about his audience, inspirations, collaborations and much more 

Where were you born and raised? I was born and raised in Delhi but moved to Chandigarh when I was 17. 

So Badshah, where does this name come from? This name has many reasons, partly because I'm a big Shahrukh Khan fan and partly because I live like a Badshah lol. 

Tell us how did you get involved in music? Have you always had apassion? I was always passionate about music, and when I say always I mean always. Although never really thought of pursuing music professionally, it just happened. I make music purely for the love of it. 

your views on clean lyrics and music videos? Do you think it is important? I might sound cliched here but the culture has changed and is constantly changing. People love what they can relate to. And fortunately or unfortunately the audience that my music caters to is very very diverse. I can make a 'Saturday Saturday', I can make a 'Proper Patola' and I can even make an absolutely traditional song like Veet Baljit's 'Reel'.Not everyone loved Proper Patola, not everyone loved Reel. But they all are loved by a lot of people. The point is everyone has their own perspective, their own way of looking at things. I'm just an artist who observes a lot and then puts his observations into music. People who relate to it love it, people who don't, listen to other artists, simple. 

Your fan base is generally the younger audience. Is it easy to target your music towards them? Not at all. Also you can never take your audience for granted. Today's audience is really intelligent and that's what I love about it.It gives me an opportunity to experiment with my work. At the same time today's audience has have so many options but no time.It won't give you a lot of chances. They've got the internet, they'll find what they're looking for and they'll find the best one at it. You have to keep your game real. 

Last year you were signed up to the leading music label company SonyMusic. How did you get approached? I was looking for the right label to release Saturday Saturday. I wanted a label that understood my music. That's when I came across Mr. Pawanesh Pajnu from Sony Music. Since then it has been a relationship of mutual understanding and respect for each other's work. We just made it official by me signing to the label last year. 

Who's your inspiration within the industry? I'm a great great great fan of the music that I end up making at times. Besides that I love the production by Pharell and Timberlake, I love the way Dr. Dre uses his keys, I love Drake's, J Cole's and Raxtar's style of writing. Steel Banglez inspires me to keep getting better. I love Honey Singh's sense of music. There is so much to be inspired from.But be inspired, don't be influenced. 

Neeru Bajwa: I am a little nervous as I still haven’t seen Aa Gaye Munde

Neeru Bajwa the top female Punjabi actress, who has been the face behind many blockbusters such as Jihne Mera Dil Luteya , Jatt and Juliet 1 & 2, she is now ready to release her new film Aa Gaye Munde UK de, the sequel to Munde UK de. In an interview, the actress talks about her upcoming film. 

Your new film Aa Gaye Munde UK de is releasing on the 8th August, do we as viewers need to have seen Munde UK de first? 

No, you don't have to see the first part which is Munde UK de. If you haven't seen it and you missed it then that's OK, I will forgive you! Either than that you don't need to have seen it in order to understand Aa Gaye Munde UK de. The storyline is completely different we are not continuing off from where the first one left off from. We have the same cast and the name is kind of like Jatt and Juilet, both different stories. 

Is there going to be another sequel? 

Well let's see how Aa Gaye Munde De does at the box office, then that will determine that I guess. 

Why has it taken so long to make a sequel? 

Manmohan Singh the director was talking about this for the last 5 years; he just couldn't crack the storyline. I think Munde UK de kind of started that whole concept of the comedy phase within the Punjabi industry. It was such a special film for all of us Punjabi's. So Manmohan Ji, didn't want to just create anything so quick so this is why it's taken a long time to crack the script and to make sure that the audience won't be disappointed. 

Sounds great, a lot of thought has gone in, so Neeru what appealed to you about Aa Gaye Munde UK de? 

Well first of all it is because of Manmohan Ji; wherever I am it is because of him. I will do anything he says. But the film in general, well when I first heard the script which he narrated I was laughing throughout. I said to him this is going to be good. So I just knew it, I have this intuition and when we started shooting it just got better and better with everyone's performance and input. It is a nice big happy family film. 

Briefly tell us what the film is about? 

It is a romantic film, where as Munde UK de was a comedy. My character Disha, is from Punjab, a Punjabi girl and her father has this fascination with getting his daughter married to a guy who is a NRI. Jimmy and Guggi Paaji they try to tell him that they love his daughter and that Jimmy wants to marry her. 

But my father is like no he just wants a NRI and that's how the film starts and how Jimmy woo's me and pretends he's from abroad and stuff, then things unravel. 

Oh wow seems very fun and interesting to watch. So how would you describe your character Disha in the film? 

The director made me feel very special and the way he presented and projected me in this film made me feel beautiful therefore this was easy. 

What was it like working with Jimmy Shergill? And Gurpreet Guggi? 

It was amazing! They are such talented actors and I have known them for so long. I think everyone just keeps getting better and better. It was great and defiantly a great reunion. 

So having Gupreet Guggi on the set must off been a lot of fun, full of laughter? 

Oh yes, it was. The only new edition we had was Om Puri. We are all a great big family and had a blast shooting. 

What was it like to work with the director Manmohan Singh again? 

I feel like a child when I work with him. It is so nice to work him; he is one of the most talented directors. The way he handles everyone at peace and calmness, you don't need to worry about anything because you know everything has been taken care off. 

Do you wish some of the film was shot in the UK, considering the film title? 

Ah no it couldn't off been shot in the UK. I wouldn't have minded to have a song shot there, but hey we are coming to the premier there! It is on the 7th in Birmingham. So we made up for that and we will be performing at the O2 arena in London on the 9th. 

From start to finish how long did the film take? 

Think about 46 days for the shooting part, the rest of film completed a few days ago. 

What was your favourite part? 

My favourite part is the songs; I had a blast shooting for the songs. 

What's your favourite song in the film? 

Well it depends on my mood, if I'm feeling happy then it is a Bhangra song called Pasand Jaat di, if I'm sad then it's the sad songs, if it's romantic then it's Tere Naal. 

What was your challenging scene? 

I didn't have a challenging scene because I was so comfortable with everyone and everything. When you have a good director it's all easy and everything happens smoothly. 

What genre of films do you find easy to act in? 

I love romancing on the screen. I do find comedy a bit challenging like in Naughty Jatt's which was my last comedy. I'm very spontaneous so after the word 'action', everything just happens. 

How different or similar are you from the character in reality? 

I am quite similar, very easy going follows her heart. I'm lucky I've always played strong characters this allows me to identify with them. 

Have you learnt anything whilst shooting Aa Gaye Munde UK de? 

I have learnt something new every day, but working with Manmohan Ji has made me more patient and calm. 

How long have you been in the film industry for now? 

12 years and thank you for everyone who is still watching me and sites like yourself supporting us all and keep the Punjabi scene alive! 

What's your dream role? 

It has to be Heer, I always wanted to play Heer. I am very blessed that I have had the opportunity to play her. I also feel that as an actor just working is a dream come true. 

How was your overall experience making the film? 

Wonderful, so far this is my best experience from start to finish, everything went so smoothly. 

Was that because of the same cast? 

No I think because there was no problem, everyone was positive, I believe in the script. 

Are you nervous for the release? 

I am a little nervous; I still haven't seen the film! none of us have so we will be watching it on the 7th. 

Could you give us a brief on your upcoming projects and what can we expect from you? 

Currently I'm shooting for a film, can't speak much about it but it will be releasing in November. 

Why should we go and watch the movie? 

I think you should go and watch the film because you will be thoroughly entertained, walking out of the theatre with a smile on your face. When you come out you will be like 'what it's over, let's go and watch it again!'

After gaining a lot of attention and numerous hits on the video blogging site, YouTube, when its teaser/trailer released a few days back, Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming film BANG BANG will have its first video song released by the end of this month.


Sources say, “first song of the film will be unveiled very soon infact it will be in front of you all by the end of this month. As per sources the song is a dance number which features both Hrithik & Katrina dancing whole heartedly. Evelyn Sharma Rejected Bigg Boss

Actress Evelyn Sharma, who has thrice been approached for Bigg Boss, has praised the reality programme as one of the most entertaining shows on Indian television but says she “can’t be stuck in one house for so long”.

The eighth season of the show will soon go on air and the names of prospective contestants are already doing the rounds.

Evelyn too has again been approached for the forthcoming season. However, she has turned it town.

“I think ‘Bigg Boss’ is the most entertaining show on Indian television. However, I’m claustrophobic and I can’t be stuck in one house for so long. Plus, my new film start shooting soon so my dates too were becoming an issue,” she said in a statement.

The actress, who is of half-Indian and half-German lineage, has been seen in films like From Sydney With Love, Nautanki Saala, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Issaq, Yaariyaan and Main Tera Hero.

Marvelous job done by Kick during second week too! The film has completed it’s 2 week journey with ease and adding lots of cash to it’s account. Kick has made over estimated 216 Cr in total earnings at box office as the second week ended for the film. The film is expected to have major drop in it’s earnings from the start of third week’s journey at domestic box office.

One movie ticket and you get to watch action, drama, love, charity, foreign locations, an item number, a gorgeous female lead and above all Salman Khan! I guess that is enough to draw the superstar’s fans to the cinema halls.

The movie is directed by Salman’s good friend Sajid Nadiadwala and their comfort level shows on screen. As a director/friend, Nadiadwala has done everything for the superstar, from a filmi entry to his famous walk which his fans love and his character in the film helps the needy, Kick has it all!

Film has rather interesting storyline (though scene by scene borrowed from original ‘Kick’ down south). Himanshu Tyagi (Randeep Hooda) is a cop and he is in Warsaw to solve a case where he also meets a potential bride Shaina (Jacquline). She talks about her past when she was in love with Devi Lal Singh(Salman Khan). Devi was not serious in his life and always did things in life for getting a kick. He was topper in college but left 32 jobs because he never got a kick.

Shaina’s father (Saurabh Shukla) found this guy Devi little strange and offered him to become ‘ghar – jamai’ and this agitated Devi. Devi finds a job but again left it as he did not get any kick. Devi disappears suddenly after that from Shaina’s life. On the other hand, Himanshu is also searching for a strange thief Devil who is the only blot on his rather impeccable career. Devil robs a temple, a pen of minister and a train. And strangely everyone is connected to Angel Trust which is owned by Shiv (Nawazuddin). What is the motive of Devil, why did Devi leave Shaina – all these questions will be answered when you watch the climax!

Performance wise this is best Salman Khan performance in last few years. He is usual self as Devi Lal but he surprises as Devil and displays his grey emotions with perfections. He dances with some real efforts which is rarity in last few years. Jacquline is as good or bad as Katrina in her early years in terms of acting. But she looks gorgeous and dances like anything in ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ song. Randeep Hooda is as good as always and looks bit predictable (read repetitive) at times.

Mithun Chakrobarthy is good in small role as father of Salman Khan and Archana Puran Singh has almost nothing to do in two scenes. Saurbah Shukla and Sanjay Mishra are decent in brief roles. Nargis Fakhri sizzles in itme song. But the real ‘man of the match’ (or hero) of the film is Nawazuddin. He gets clap in every frame and this is probably first time you will see someone getting so much attention in Salman Khan film. He proves that how good actor he is even in a small cliche role. He will be flooded with offers after this one.

Music is good but all songs break flow the film and look too forced. Music is simply outstanding byHimesh Reshammiya but Yo Yo Honey Singh is not as good as his earlier work. ‘Party All Night’ and ‘Saat Samundar’ (original one featured Divya Bharati, ex wife of director producer Sajid Nadiadwala) provide some funny moments on screen. Editing is very inconsistent and at times film confuses audience unintentionally or breaks the flow. Cinematography lifts the film but background score is unimaginative.

After getting ridiculed for her poor general knowledge, Alia Bhatt is now under the scanner for not wearing event appropriate clothes.At the trailer launch of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Alia, who was wearing a Patiala suit, had an oops moment when her co-star Varun Dhawan lifted her up and accidentally lifted her kurta as well, thus putting her transparent salwar in full public display. In fact, if you’re quickly glancing through your photos, you may end up missing it entirely. But, I’m told that Alia has now asked Varun not to lift her in public at any more events and check with her before pulling off similar stunts during the promotional rounds.
